“Crisàlide” Day Centre
Crisàlide is a Day Centre for people going through a process of recovery from addiction. Active since 1991, it runs therapeutic, occupational and educational activities that make it easier to overcome drug dependence and achieve social and employment reintegration.
The main purpose is to complement outpatient treatment by creating routines and running therapeutic, educational and occupational workshops. These activities aim to increase coping and problem-solving skills without resorting to substance use, raise tolerance of frustration and strengthen self-esteem, patience and perseverance. All of this takes place in a safe and inclusive setting that, in addition to personal work, boosts social skills and prepares people for an active return to community life.
Located in Barcelona and run by an experienced professional team, the centre offers daily activities to maintain abstinence, prevent marginalisation and social exclusion and encourage healthy habits and positive relationships. Occupational therapy through marquetry, art therapy, a relaxation space, a vegetable-growing workshop, relapse prevention or leisure time management forms part of the programme, along with cultural outings.
The service is currently funded by the Departament de Treball, Afers Socials i Famílies of the Generalitat de Catalunya, with some fees topped up by service users.
Therapeutic programme
It is a therapeutic space for those undergoing outpatient treatment to recover from alcohol, other drugs or behavioural addictions. At the same time, it is an educational space where coping skills, problem-solving and learning to manage emotions are developed.
The work is organised through a variety of activities and a dynamic of relationship with the team and the group, geared towards reaching therapeutic goals. The activities aim to significantly change the way people face everyday life.
The core objectives are to consolidate abstinence, strengthen self-esteem, develop personal and social skills and regain pre-employment habits where appropriate. Together with the team’s therapeutic and emotional support, this promotes participatory, active and emotional integration into the personal and social environment.
The centre carries out daily monitoring of each person’s progress, which allows early detection of relapse and swift intervention. In turn, regular coordination with the referring services ensures a comprehensive approach and individualised care. The length of stay is variable and is adjusted to each person’s needs and progress.
