Addiction Day Centre

Addiction Day Centre

The Addiction Day Centre was the first centre of its kind to open in Spain, and has operated without interruption since 1989. It supports people with drug dependence problems, who usually also have other addictions, such as gambling, or other mental health problems. The centre provides treatment delivered by psychologists, specialist educators and instructors of various activities, such as yoga, music therapy and others.

Throughout their stay, service users take part in individual and family therapy, and a range of group activities, both therapeutic and occupational.

Intensive support is provided with a high level of containment. Service users are at the centre every day from 9:00 to 17:00, and are also guided and accompanied in weekend activities. It is intended for people with a high level of family support, who can live in a stable home and return to it every night. The full treatment can last between six and eight months, although it is adapted to individual needs and is always fully personalised.

People can attend directly, or from an outpatient centre that has previously been seeing the patient, returning to it afterwards for longer-term follow-up and keeping in permanent contact with it. It has a specialist employment placement programme, and can be combined with residence in the foundation’s own supervised flats when this is advisable.

Over these first 25 years, the Centre has helped hundreds of people to exchange their drug dependence for a promising future.
