FSC STABILISATION PROGRAMME
Aim: preventing relapse
The Riera Major Residential Therapeutic Centre, run by Fundación Salud y Comunidad (FSC), offers specialist care to people with alcohol, cocaine dependence and other substances.
Opened in November 2006, the centre builds on the more than twenty years of experience of the Can Coll Therapeutic Community and on an established team and programmes, integrated into the Network of Professional Drug Dependence Treatment Centres of Catalonia.
The Stabilisation Programme is aimed at people who have already completed residential rehabilitation treatment and who, after a period of abstinence and stability, have suffered a relapse. It is also aimed at cases in which the referring professional detects a high risk of relapse and recommends a preventive admission, without the need to repeat the whole therapeutic process.
The programme consists of a five-week stay of intensive residential treatment in a rural setting (Osona region). The natural environment makes it easier to gain a temporary distance from habits and relationships, which helps to break away from the triggers for use.
During this period, physical detoxification is provided (where indicated), together with an analysis of the causes of the relapse or destabilisation and a redefinition of the reintegration plan, with the aim of re-establishing abstinence at discharge.
Work with families is key: from the first week they can stay in contact with the service user and receive information and therapy to cope with the current situation.
Another pillar of the Programme is its high therapeutic intensity, made possible by working with small groups.
