Urban Therapeutic Flats

Urban therapeutic residences

The Fundación Salud y Comunidad (FSC) extends its work after discharge from its therapeutic centres through two urban residences. The first residence for people with drug dependence began operating in 1998 and, in view of growing demand, a second opened in October 2007. Both are located in Barcelona, which makes it easier to access the city’s care resources and social networks.

It is an open-regime resource that enhances the opportunities offered by shared living and interpersonal interaction within a framework of professional supervision provided by FSC. The admission requirement is to have completed treatment in a Therapeutic Community with therapeutic discharge or to come from another centre with a minimum of 4–6 months of abstinence.

The purpose is to promote social, financial and employment integration, as well as the personal and family reorganisation of those who use the resource, with the aim of regaining skills and taking an active part in their surroundings.

Therapeutic programme

The urban residences offer:

  • Flexible planning and monitoring of goals, adapted to the needs and pace of each case.

  • Group dynamics geared towards reintegration: relapse prevention, social skills, leisure time management and employment placement.

  • Individual guidance at a psychological and educational level.

  • Support for families by telephone, through scheduled sessions or through family groups held every two months.
