In these cases, we suggest <strong data-start=\"457\" data-end=\"500\">joining the family programme<\/strong> to practise <strong data-start=\"515\" data-end=\"544\">new ways of relating<\/strong>, learn to <strong data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"574\">set boundaries<\/strong> and handle difficult situations.<br data-start=\"611\" data-end=\"614\" \/>The <strong data-start=\"617\" data-end=\"641\">family treatment<\/strong> prevents the family from feeling alone: it has a <strong data-start=\"693\" data-end=\"715\">therapeutic team<\/strong> that accompanies and guides every phase of the process. In this way, they know <strong data-start=\"779\" data-end=\"805\" data-is-only-node=\"\">what to do and what to avoid<\/strong>, reduce <strong data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"837\">overprotection<\/strong>, set <strong data-start=\"850\" data-end=\"868\">clear boundaries<\/strong> and stop feeling <strong data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"918\">guilty or disoriented<\/strong>. As well as <strong data-start=\"949\" data-end=\"973\">relieving the family<\/strong>, this intervention often <strong data-start=\"981\" data-end=\"994\">makes it more likely<\/strong> that the patient <strong data-start=\"1011\" data-end=\"1045\">ends up accepting treatment<\/strong>.<\/p><h2 style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1048\" data-end=\"1069\">The patient<\/h2><p style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1070\" data-end=\"1414\">If it is the <strong data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1091\">patient<\/strong> who comes for the first time, it is usual for them not to <strong data-start=\"1140\" data-end=\"1154\">know<\/strong> what type of approach they need and to ask for <strong data-start=\"1196\" data-end=\"1213\">advice<\/strong>. During the <strong data-start=\"1236\" data-end=\"1264\">information and assessment<\/strong> session, we explore <strong data-start=\"1277\" data-end=\"1301\">history of use<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1325\">physical conditions<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1327\" data-end=\"1354\">social and family situation<\/strong>, and so on. This <strong data-start=\"1380\" data-end=\"1400\">clinical history<\/strong> information is used to determine:<\/p><ul style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1416\" data-end=\"2337\"><li data-start=\"1416\" data-end=\"1505\"><p data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"1505\"><strong data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"1457\">Whether prior detoxification is needed<\/strong> and whether it should be <strong data-start=\"1472\" data-end=\"1502\">outpatient or in hospital<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1506\" data-end=\"2176\"><p data-start=\"1508\" data-end=\"1783\"><strong data-start=\"1508\" data-end=\"1536\">Treatment modality<\/strong> after detoxification (or without needing it): <strong data-start=\"1581\" data-end=\"1596\">outpatient<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"1599\" data-end=\"1614\">residential<\/strong> in a <strong data-start=\"1618\" data-end=\"1640\">therapeutic centre<\/strong>. The decision is based on the <strong data-start=\"1668\" data-end=\"1694\">patient\u2019s ability<\/strong> to remain <strong data-start=\"1711\" data-end=\"1723\">abstinent<\/strong> given their <strong data-start=\"1733\" data-end=\"1780\">employment, family and health context<\/strong>.<\/p><ul data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"2176\"><li data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"1960\"><p data-start=\"1788\" data-end=\"1960\">Where there is <strong data-start=\"1798\" data-end=\"1825\">little physical illness<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1827\" data-end=\"1841\">motivation<\/strong> for abstinence and a <strong data-start=\"1867\" data-end=\"1887\">supportive environment<\/strong> (usually the family), <strong data-start=\"1920\" data-end=\"1957\">outpatient treatment is usually recommended<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1963\" data-end=\"2176\"><p data-start=\"1965\" data-end=\"2176\">Where there is <strong data-start=\"1972\" data-end=\"1985\">deterioration<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1987\" data-end=\"2021\">little awareness of dependence<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2023\" data-end=\"2044\">low motivation<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2046\" data-end=\"2064\">high risk<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2066\" data-end=\"2097\">no support network<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"2100\" data-end=\"2120\">previous failures<\/strong> in outpatient care, <strong data-start=\"2140\" data-end=\"2175\">residential admission is prioritised<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li data-start=\"2178\" data-end=\"2337\"><p data-start=\"2180\" data-end=\"2337\">If <strong data-start=\"2194\" data-end=\"2227\">admission to a therapeutic centre<\/strong> is appropriate, we advise on the most suitable resource of <strong data-start=\"2273\" data-end=\"2304\">Fundaci\u00f3n Salud y Comunidad<\/strong>: <strong data-start=\"2306\" data-end=\"2321\">Riera Major<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"2324\" data-end=\"2336\">Can Coll<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"2339\" data-end=\"2635\">In some cases, the patient <strong data-start=\"2369\" data-end=\"2395\">already knows which modality<\/strong> is right for them\u2014because <strong data-start=\"2423\" data-end=\"2454\">it is not their first treatment<\/strong> or they arrive <strong data-start=\"2463\" data-end=\"2491\">referred by another organisation<\/strong> with a specific request. In these situations, we provide <strong data-start=\"2554\" data-end=\"2587\">all the information needed<\/strong> without requiring a new assessment of the
